General Meeting Information:

The 2015 Two Year College Tandem Meeting will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at the Germantown campus of Montgomery College in conjunction with the 2015 AAPT Summer Meeting, which will be held in nearby College Park. Kris Lui of Montgomery College will be the local host for this year's tandem meeting.

The theme of this year's meeting is "Turning Ideas into Action". A detailed schedule of workshops, sample classes, and other talks and presentations can be found here. While the meeting program is targeted towards physics and astronomy faculty at two-year colleges, anyone interested in physics education at two-year colleges is welcome to attend.

The cost of this year's meeting is $50, which will include transportation to/from College Park to the Germantown campus and lunch at the meeting.

An update for Tandem Meeting attendees:

(updated July 21, 2015)

Thanks to our presenters, we have an exciting series of workshops and talks planned for next Saturday. The current draft of the meeting program that includes descriptions of the scheduled talks and workshops is available on the schedule page.

An important announcement: two workshops, "How Physics Helped Solve the Mystery of DNA—an Interdisciplinary Student Laboratory” by Becky Treu and “Pre-pharmacy Applications in Algebra-based Introductory Physics” by Alexander Wong will occur in a biology lab. As a safety precaution, all people planning on participating in these two workshops must wear closed-heel and toe shoes! Maryland can be hot in the summertime, but the Germantown campus is air-conditioned!

A shuttle bus to and from the conference will depart from University of Maryland - College Park at 8:30am on Saturday July 25th. The bus will meet participants next to the Stamp Student Union Building (where the AAPT registration and check-in is located), on Union Lane. The UMD Campus map is available here: http://maps.umd.edu/map/

For participants wishing to arrive independently, check-in will be from 9:00-9:15 in room 151/152 at the Bioscience Education Center (BE) on the Germantown Campus of Montgomery College. Parking is available in Lot #3 (across from the BE building). (A parking permit is not required). Directions and maps of the Germantown campus can be found at this link: http://cms.montgomerycollege.edu/edu/maps.aspx?id=23554

We are excited to see you all next Saturday!

Sincerely,

The 2015 Two-Year College Tandem Meeting organizing committee
